Marine Iguana
“Is that a Komodo Dragon in the water!”
That is what you would be saying if you encounter these amazing animals. The Marine Iguana is native to the Galapagos Islands. They have a very strict diet because they only eat algae. Marine Iguanas are reptiles and they can do the most unusual thing. Marine Iguanas can sneeze out salt! They protect themselves by making look scary with the colors on their back when they are just gentle creatures inside.
Appearance
The look of a Marine Iguana is very similar to a Komodo Dragon. Males have lighter colors on their body than females. The colors on their body helps them look scary. The claws on a Marine Iguana looks like they can cut you but they are actually used to climb onto high rocks on land. The claws are used to latch onto rocks and walk on them in the water while there are strong currents. Marine Iguanas have rough skin so if you ever pat or touch them you will feel lots of little bumps on them.
Habitat
The Marine Iguana is native to the Galapagos Island. Marine Iguanas are found in the volcanic islands. Marine Iguanas like islands with steep rock cliffs low to the ground so they can jump into the water. Marine Iguana love the heat so the stay on the edge of the rocks. They stay be the beach and do not go away from it unless the have been scared.
Life Style
Marine Iguanas have lots of things they like to do. Like swimming in a snake like motion and sneezing out salt! They also like to lie on rocks by the beach so they it isn't far away from food and they are also cold blooded so they need the sun to survive. That is two reasons why the lie and sunbathe. Marine Iguanas sneeze out salt because they feed in the water and lots of salt goes into their blood. Marine have special glands that take out the salt and makes them sneeze it all out. It can also be used for protection when a predator gets to close. Marine Iguanas are herbivores and they only eat algae.
This is all information while researching the amazing creatures.I enjoyed finding more about these crazy and magnificent animals.These animals are the most beautiful animals in the world.
